What is a Surveyor Safety Vest?
One popular safety vest style is surveyor safety vests. These safety vests are preferred by those in the surveying business, but can be worn by workers in any industry. Like most safety vests, surveyor vests come in high visibility orange, lime and yellow colors. They are available in mesh or solid vest material options.
Surveyor safety vests can be ANSI class 2, ANSI class 3 or non-ANSI certified. The level of ANSI approval a safety vest has depends on the amount of reflective striping on the vest. Typically, surveyor vests will need to be at least ANSI class 2 certified, because surveyors often work on the side of roadways in high traffic areas.
So what sets surveyor vests apart from other safety vests? The number of vest pockets. Unlike regular traffic safety vests, surveyor safety vests have plenty of vest pockets, usually inside and outside. These pockets are beneficial to surveyors and other workers who need to carry instruments, tools, writing utensils and other small objects. Most surveyors carry marking instruments, measuring tape and other small tools around with them on the job site. Surveyor vests with pockets make carrying these tools easy and convenient.
